Milestone Roadmap

Physical AI Milestones

Sanctuary AI is on a mission to deliver production-ready Physical AI to industry today. The milestones below chart our progress from foundational innovation to real-world deployment.

/ Physical AI

Completed Milestones

These milestones trace the journey of Physical AI from innovation to real-world industrial deployment.

80+ granted US patents, 250+ global patent assets, and growing; covering the foundations of Physical AI-enabled robotics.

One AI policy, two robots: the same task was executed on both Phoenix and a Franka arm. Hardware-agnostic training that scales as new platforms commercialize.

Designing and deploying task-specific end-effectors that pair with Sanctuary AI's Physical AI to optimize performance and meet industrial cycle times.

Physical AI on a robotic system deployed at a customer site, autonomously performing industrial tasks.

Achieved 99.5%+ task success on one of the hardest tasks in industrial automation: inserting flexible wire harnesses that shift dynamically while moving on a conveyor. World-class results validated with industrial-level throughput at a global Tier 1 automotive supplier, resulting in a purchase order.

Secured a paid deployment with a global Tier 1 automotive supplier, marking Sanctuary AI's first commercial purchase order.

Robotic Hand Milestones

Since 2018, Sanctuary AI has been developing the sensing, actuation, and control technologies required for advanced robotic manipulation. These milestones trace the evolution of our dexterous robotic hand from foundational research to real-world industrial validation.

/ ROBOTIC HANDS

Completed Milestones

Years of focused innovation in actuation, sensing, and manipulation have culminated in a robotic hand engineered to deliver the dexterity, durability, and precision required for industrial work.

Secured patents related to dexterous manipulation, miniaturized hydraulic actuation, valve design, and teleoperation.

Tested every major actuation approach across eight hardware generations. Miniaturized hydraulics emerged as the only path to human-level power density and dexterity at industrial-grade durability.

Compliant, sensitive, durable, low-cost tactile sensors for full grasping-surface coverage, combined with haptic servoing to drive dexterity and richer training data.

Miniaturized 60 proprietary closed-loop proportional hydraulic valves into a human-forearm form, enabling human-scale hydraulic actuation.

Demonstrated Sim2Real in-hand reorientation policy on a hydraulic hand, establishing a repeatable pipeline from simulation to real-world autonomous manipulation.

17-DOF (degrees of freedom) hydraulic hand in a human-hand form, with significant gains in performance, reliability, and serviceability.
