Sanctuary: A Place We Love

As mentioned in my 1-year anniversary blog post, one of the benchmarks I established for Sanctuary to indicate we are on course with our mission is to be a company people love working at. Sanctuary has a variety of internal initiatives we conduct to ensure we remain a place people love. One of the ways we collect feedback from our employees on how they feel about working here is through regular surveys.

After the announcement of our Guiding Principles and Corporate Values, we felt it was the perfect time to connect with our team through a survey. I’ve decided to share some of the results because I—along with the rest of our leadership team—am proud to be a part of a company people genuinely love working at.

Sanctuary Earned an 89 Employee Net Promoter Score

When asked, “On a scale of zero to ten, how likely are you to recommend Sanctuary as a place to work to a friend or valued acquaintance?”, 89% of our employees who responded to the survey* said 9 or 10. An eNPS of 89 is a tremendous accomplishment, signaling we are well on our way to becoming a world-class employer.

This means the majority of those working at Sanctuary are so happy with the nature of their work, the people they work with, and the company culture, they would enthusiastically recommend working here—and many have done so already.

Great People, Greater Collaboration

When asked what their favorite part of working at Sanctuary was, nearly half of the respondents mentioned they love the people. This is a very important detail considering “collaborative” was a top word chosen by our employees to describe the environment at Sanctuary. Working with people you like and respect is always nice, but in an environment that requires close teamwork, it can make or break the success of a team. Collaboration is so important to the work we do at Sanctuary, that “Collaborative Trail-Blazing” is one of our official Corporate Values

Working in a collaborative environment provides the opportunity to teach others, learn new things, and work more quickly and efficiently toward milestones. As we stated in our Guiding Principles, “We Row Together, We Win Together.” The people at Sanctuary are intelligent, dedicated individuals who are open to learning and sharing their knowledge for the betterment of their team.

Challenging (In a Good Way)

Challenging was the top word used to describe working at Sanctuary. Creating human-like intelligence in general-purpose robots is challenging, but it’s also exciting, engaging, and rewarding (the top-chosen words that subsequently followed). Meaningful work is often challenging, but that’s what gives many of us purpose and a sense of personal fulfillment at work.

I’d like to conclude this last thought with one of my favorite quotes from the survey: “I love working at Sanctuary because I get to take part in extremely meaningful work every day and I am honored to be surrounded by some of the best minds in the industry.”
